Class of Travel

Air India Express provides 3 travel classes:

Xpress Lite: provides a cabin baggage-only fare with a complimentary 7kg allowance and the option to add 3kg.

Xpress Value: includes all Lite benefits plus a 15kg check-in luggage allowance.

Xpress Flex: adds the flexibility to reschedule flights at no extra cost, building upon the Value package.

Xpress Biz: business class option featuring seats with up to 58 inches of legroom. Passengers receive one complimentary ‘Gourmair’ meal, which must be pre-booked via the airline’s website or mobile app, and enjoy Xpress Ahead priority services, enhancing their overall travel experience.

Baggage allowance

Air India Express’s Xpress Lite fare does not include complimentary check-in baggage, but passengers can pre-book additional baggage at the airport. All other fare types offer one piece of checked-in baggage up to a maximum of 15 kg for domestic and two checked-in baggage, not exceeding the limit specified during booking (depending on fare type) for international. Additional checked baggage can be booked at discounted rates, ranging from 3 to 25 kg for domestic and 5 to 25 kg for international flights. Each checked bag must not exceed 81 cm × 119 cm × 119 cm.

Passengers are allowed two cabin baggage items totaling up to 7 kg, with one piece fitting overhead at 56 cm × 36 cm × 23 cm and a second item fitting under the seat at 40 cm × 30 cm × 10 cm. Baggage upgrades are available via the website, mobile app, or chatbot up to two hours before departure. Smart baggage must comply with battery regulations, and items purchased at the airport are included in the cabin allowance unless they are duty-free items packed in a Security Tamper-evident Bag (STEB), sealed and accompanied by proof-of-purchase.

In-flight Services

Air India Express provides the Xtra Seat option for passengers seeking additional personal space. Up to two Xtra seats can be booked through the website, app, agents, contact center, or airport counters, excluding group bookings. This service accommodates bulky or fragile baggage and offers enhanced comfort without additional baggage allowances.

For in-flight dining, Air India Express offers Gourmair, a gourmet experience featuring master chef specials, lite bites, innovative desserts, and a variety of global and regional favorites. The menu caters to diverse dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and diabetic options, all prepared with high hygiene standards and a commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

Check-in

Passengers are encouraged to utilize Air India Express’ web check-in, available from 14 days up to one hour before departure. This service allows seat selection, offers discounts on add-ons such as extra baggage and meals, and enables free boarding pass reprinting, providing convenience and potential cost savings.

Airport check-in is mandatory for unaccompanied minors aged 12-16, passengers with reduced mobility or medical needs requiring a wheelchair and special assistance, pregnant travelers, and those with infants under eight days old.

Onboard Support

Air India Express provides complimentary wheelchair assistance, available in ambulatory and non-ambulatory types. Passengers can request wheelchairs via the website, mobile app, or chatbot at least 48 hours before departure. Battery-operated devices must be checked in, and pre-booking is recommended to ensure availability. Stretcher services are also offered, requiring a 72-hour advance booking through the call center and completion of a Stretcher Enquiry form. Installation involves folding 8 seats across 4 rows for the stretcher to fit securely against the fuselage and rear bulkhead, with applicable charges for used seats, while attendants travel free of charge.

The airline’s Unaccompanied Minor service assists children between the ages of 5 and 12 from check-in to arrival. Staff escort minors through all travel stages, provide complimentary hot meals that have been pre-booked, and ensure their safety onboard. Parents must complete the necessary forms and be present during drop-off and pick-up with valid identification.

Refund & Cancellation

In the event of flight cancellations, significant schedule changes, or delays exceeding three hours, passengers may choose to transfer to another Air India Express flight within seven days at no additional cost, subject to seat availability.

Alternatively, passengers opting not to travel can receive a full refund. Refunds are processed using the original payment method or through the travel agency for bookings made via agents, and claims must be submitted within one year of cancellation. Specific refund policies apply based on the fare type, and no refunds are granted for ECNR return sectors without POE Authorities’ authorization.
